Weekly Reflection

For the weather being against us for the entire week, Chloe and I learned how to be easy going with our schedule. We learned that in order for our experience to be accommodating to our final project we need to take advantage of each sunny day that we have. Even though this week the weather did play in our favor we did find windows of time where we were able to attend a couple beaches. While at the beaches we worked carefully and methodically to collect all trash. We soon realized, at the first beach we visited, that we were going to have to be conscientious with the trash after we came across a copious amount of needles. It was eye opening to see how a beach I have so many fond memories at could also be a place where people go to get high. The first beach we went to I knew I was doing something great to help my community, but at the same time I felt a deep sadness for our community. This experience helped me prepare myself for everything else to come my way in our upcoming adventures. I then was surprised to find that Hampton is a perfect example of what other beach towns should be like. All  the stores supported the eco friendly movement and it was like a breath of fresh air to see. Each beach experience brought a new perspective. The last local beach we visited our friends came to support the movement with us. It was relieving to know that there are more people care about our environment like we do. On the days we didn’t go to the beaches we made steady progress of our art piece. We started by searching ideas on how we should model ours by. Once we found our inspiration we drew/ created some prototypes to get a sense of the size and colors. Lastly we started to cut up the used trash, cans, and bottles to our liking. Chloe and I plan do place everything with the more trash we collect. Overall Chloe and I had an extremely successful week learning valuable life skills, the tradigitys of our community, and how two people can make a big impact. We're eager and excited to get back to the beaches to continue to make a dent in the beaches landfills.
